SUCCESS STORIES
Benefit Studio – “Due to ties with the 3East, Benefit Studio has seen a $8,000 annual increase in salon revenue alone.” – Fran Santangelo – owner
Tarvin Plumbing – “My family has had its business in Columbia Tusculum for 75 years. Through 3East, we have been able to interact with the
community in a way we weren’t able to in the past, and as a result have had the opportunity for new business. 3East creates an environment where local businesses can thrive.” – Mike Tarvin – owner
Kucia Advertising – Kucia And Associates, a marketing strategy and creative rm located on Airport Road, recently added a valuable new client
through its involvement in the 3East Business Association. Dave Kucia and Lisa Ackermann, Executive VP of Sales and Marketing for a national
medical technology company met at a BeneFit Studio holiday party last December. Ackermann mentioned Kucia’s rm to her Marketing Manager
and a business relationship developed, initially focusing on a series of marketing videos shot by Kucia’s rm in multiple cities and currently being
edited and nished in their Columbia Tusculum oces. Kucia And Associates, now in its 19th year of business, moved to Columbia Tusculum in 2006 after 12 years in oces on Hyde Park Square. They serve consumer and business-to-business clients, providing marketing communications strategy and creative services including campaign concepts, copy/content, design and production in web, digital, interactive, video and print formats.
Tusculum Properties – “I have expanded my network through my involvement with 3East Business Association. I own single family rental
properties and met a realtor in the Columbia Tusculum area who connected me with a tenant who signed a 3 year lease. Makes my job easier.” –
Matt Ackermann – owner
Greener Stock – Talk about keeping it local! Allyn’s recently remodeled the interior of their restaurant/bar. He contracted with Heather Curless,
owner of Greener Stock to provide architectural design and to provide various materials for the project. It was quite an investment kept local by
using Greener Stock across the street. Both are members of 3East.
The Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum (TCCCT) – TCCCT just re-opened as a rental/event facility and have recently joined the 3East Business Association. They are already working to coordinate events for local businesses they met through the association and they are getting leads for bookings from 3East members.
Eli's BBQ – Eli’s opened in January, 2012 and have done better, faster, than they expected. They have seen a great deal of support from the
association, whether it’s the 3East Business Association having dinner meetings at the restaurant, bringing the Adopt-a-Class there for lunch, or
sending out information in the newsletter. Their landlord, 3East member Nick Motz, has aided them in their, already necessary, site
upgrades/improvements.
Motz Real Estate / Wilker Design & Marketing - Nick and Mary Beth have both enjoyed and benetted from their involvement in 3East - and hope that you can, too! Lifelong Mt. Washington/Anderson residents, Nick Motz and Mary Beth Wilker, both located their businesses to the East End about 10 years ago. Besides the "convenience factor" of a quick commute from home, they realized that the area offers huge potential for upside in many ways. Nick's real estate brokerage, Motz Real Estate, has had a hand in many small business breakthroughs for the East End, several of which were brought about by his involvement in the 3East Business Association:
• Their multi-tenant Adenine Building, on Riverside Drive, houses his brokerage, Mary Beth's Wilker Design & Marketing, as well as 2 additional design/marketing-based businesses.
• Nick recruited Eli's BBQ to the East End for their 1st stand alone (and quickly successful) restaurant.
• 2017 and beyond promise 2 additional entertainment-based business anchors in the same strip
• Motz Real Estate has brought multiple commercial tenants to the area - including Eros Salon, Studio Green, Ackermann CPA, PreHab Pilates, Round Pixel Studios, Harrow Blue - to name a few.
